He began his apprenticeship with the famous Robert Clark, also worked with Colin Mudie, and then set up on his own for a period before joining Camper and Nicholsons, where he became Chief Designer, amongst his designs there being such classics as the Nicholson 55. In 1977 he moved to Canada to work for CS Yachts.
