This is number 22 in the Mean Machine family… and one of the most hotly awaited arrivals!
Built in the Salthouse Shipyard in New Zealand, the new Mean Machine TP52 took some 5 months to put together under the watchful eye of Build Manager and TP52 Captain Chris Reid, with many other members of the team involved in the design and construction process.
The new boat is a Rolf Vrolijk design, just like the previous entry that took the team to MedCup victory in 2006. This time a few changes have been made to the lines with a new innovative deck design that sees the weight being moved away from the centre line.
The boat was launched in Valencia, Spain on May 3rd 2008, and this season the team will be taking on the might Audi MedCup… and they’ll be looking to win it with this brand new member of the family.
