  • Dan Bowman

    Dan Bowman Annapolis, Maryland

is available for Racing, Delivery, Cruising, Dinghy sailing, Pro sailing, Ocean sailing

ISAF # : USADB34 ISAF Rating: Group 1 Experience: 10+ years racing, 20+ casual sailing Interests Summary: Occasional fill in rides, distance racing and possibly delivery requests and for the right boat I am interested in long term positions. I also enjoy racing on older, classic boats if you have one. If it's a competitive, one design fleet, I'm usually interested. Personal Summary: Laid back but serious with an eye for fast, safety and fun and I will crew for skippers with the same attitude. Don't mind boat preparation work or the put-away details afterwards. I am experienced with various repair work on electrical systems, some engine work, running / standing rigging and fiberglass repair and don't mind helping when problems crop up. Have no problems with assisting with boat provisioning during extended racing or regattas. I have done some RC work and at an earlier age I completed Coast Guard courses on day and night navigation as well as boater safety. I've been on many different types of boats, from monos to multis, different types of rigs and spinnaker setups, all different sizes. Boats I've spent time racing on in the last six years: J22, J24, J80, J30, J105, J109, J120, Lightning, Star, Etchell22, Melges24, Tripp26, Mumm30, Alberg30, Olson30, DragonFly920, Beneteau 36.7 & 44.7, X-Yacht 411, Pearson’s & Catalina’s of various sizes and a few other multi-hulls of various sizes, as well as stints on larger boats in the 50’+ sizes which include a number of short term rides. Did some racing back in college but I'll be honest, I was doing it just to be on the water when not wind boarding or surfing. I am also currently assisting with the project to bring the Annapolis 30 sailboat to market, working with the sail design and inventory as well as developing the one design rules. If you’d like to inquire about the boat, I am a broker representative for Annapolis Performance Yachts and would be happy to discuss (danb@annapolisperformanceyachts.com). Types of boats that I regularly sail on in the past two years: J22, Mumm30, J105, J109, J120 & Beneteau36.7. I helped organize both boat and crew on a Mumm30 as well as weekly crew practices. Most competent positions in order of experience: Foredeck, Spin-trim, Jib-trim, Main-trim Other positions in order of experience: Helm, Pit, Tactics, Nav Positions preferred: Main, Jib/Spin, Pit, Foredeck Sailing interests: Competitive Racing, Special Event, Distance Racing, Deliveries

I’ve got long sailing, racing mostly experience. I’m looking for any position. I now live and work in London, I just miss the sailing very much. I reached point in my live where I realized that it would be nice to get back to sailing again. I’d love to cruise for next few years, long journeys if possible (cross Atlantic or around the world that’s my dreams), but I wouldn’t mind get back to racing or just short weekend sailing. I’m friendly and easy going, but focused and well organized if it comes to safety on board and extremal situations. I do not smoke, am a good cook and am willing to learn new things, share experiences, meet new peoples and see new places. I love the sea and cannot think of a better way to spend my time. I'm professional, enthusiastic, reliable team player who enjoys any kind of sailing. I start sailing when I was 7 in my local sailing club in Poland. I sailed and raced dinghies for over 9 year’s inc. opp, cadet, 420, 470 as a crew, that gave me a solid background. I learned many theoretical and practical aspects of sailing and racing like: rig tuning, improving boat speed, go fast techniques offensive and defensive weapons, regaling lost ground, winning starts, start to finish jib, spinnaker trimming. My practical experience inc. Mast stepping, inspecting and maintaining rig, maintaining blocks, winches, clutches, painting and small resin works. Since 2000 I started race keel boats, firstly SYMPATHY 600 (20ft, 3 person boat), and then 730 class, fast growing, national class STALGAST. On both as a jib, gennaker trimmer. Then I started my uni. degree and I gave up racing, only holiday cruising. I have obtained following sailing qualifications: inland skipper- equivalent of day skipper rya, Ice boat skipper- if that can be useful. I enjoy windsurfing, and kite boarding as well. I now live and work in London, I just miss the sailing very much. and I’m little bit fed up with the job, so return to the sailing would be great opportunity to start something new, maybe travel for few years.

I have lots of general sailing experience, i.e cruising as I have been sailing (yachts) all my life. I have recently got into racing, however I would yet to say I am experienced as such. My main position is pit, however I have also done trim and would be willing to try any crewing position.

Discovery

Seastream 43

Discovery Sailing Project exists to provide offshore Sail Training adventures for all, from young people thirteen years old and up, to adults seeking adventure and new experiences. As a member of the Scout Association we offer voyages to all branches of the Scouting community, but we don’t limit our voyages to Scouts alone. We also run voyages for those with visual and hearing impairments and have recently set up an exciting new collaboration with ‘SENSE’, organising Sail Training voyages for young people who are Deafblind. Every year we are approached by companies seeking an effective and cost efficient corporate voyage or team building experience. We offer tailor made voyages to suit to your company’s needs. Adult voyages are for those aged 26 and over and are often referred to as ‘Open’ voyages. The itinerary for these trips is usually a little more leisurely but just as exhilarating! Please contact us to discuss your requirements. +(0)1489 580099 office@dsp.uk.com http://www.dsp.uk.com
