Join us for the only event of its kind in the world, where America’s Cup skippers, Olympic medalists, Around the World Race winners and world champions gather at Bitter End Yacht Club in the British Virgin Islands, to lead teams made up of resort guests in a week-long competition for the top Pro Am Regatta honors. This exhilarating event will allow amateurs to maximize their on-water experience with the pros as well as enjoy a lively social schedule with fellow sailors off the water.
Participating Skippers in past Pro Ams have included Russell Coutts, Paul Cayard, Ken Read, Butch Ulmer, Rod Johnstone, Keith Musto, Betsy Alison, Dawn Riley, Peter Isler, JJ Isler, Ed Baird, Tom Lowell, Harold Cudmore, Jim Brady, Ted Hood, Charis Larson, Terry Hutchinson, Robbie Haines, Andy Burdick, Tom Leweck, Ben Ainslie and the list goes on!
The current format, introduced in 2005, will be fleet racing (windward-leewards), and Navigator-style racing within North Sound, using IC 24s, provided by R.I.P. (Racing in Paradise). We will also run our 14th Annual Defiance Day Regatta, down to The Baths and back, and famed Curmudgeon Tom Leweck of Scuttlebutt will once again be on hand to host the 7th Annual Musto Scuttlebutt Sailing Club Offshore Championships.
Mark your calendars for what certainly will be an exciting week of events and activities, on and off the water!
