Does anyone know where you can get TV coverage in Canada?

Saw a report a couple of days ago that TSN in Canada has finally struck a deal with Versus and will be broadcasting starting with the LV semis and continue with the America's cup (no other details though) - It seems to be legit as the AC website has changed and on their interactive map indicates that TSN will be broadcasting in Canada with a link -- but nothing as yet on www.TSN.cahttp://www.americascup.com/en/americascup/how_to_follow/tv/index.php

I email the media at America's cup and they are telling me that live coverage is suppose to begin on May 22nd. They are very disapointed that TSN is not broadcasting the races now!

Lets hope that they start showing some coverage. It looks like a Luns Roso and NZ final. Should be very exciting. Using the 3d sail watch just isn't the same in the pre start as seeing all the action.

Any more word on the coverage by TSN? Tried emailing them but got only a form response. Very sad.

Try this link -http://tsn.ca/yachting/ - looks like it will be live internet tv (broadband) starting June 1 for the duration and it appears it will be no charge.

If TSN turns out to be a bust there is a way of circumventing the blocking of broadcasts available in other countries - (or if someone wants to access the TSN broadcasts from a blocked country) What you need to do is to open a dial-up account with an ISP (e.g. AOL)and take advantage of their out of country access numbers -- by utilizing an access number in a country where the broadcast is available you circumvent the blocking as it thinks you are in that country. It's actually very simple. Once you have your AOL account and know the access numbers the first step is to disconnect your broadband connection -- then sign-on using the dial-up number -- then log on to the site with the broadcast - instead of blocking it will let you through as it thinks you are in whatever area code and country the dial up number originates from -- now you're in --- so the next step is to re-activate your broadband connection - once your broadband is re-activated disconnect your dial up -- it's a seamless transition such that the connection to the site is not interrupted -- it still thinks you are in whatever location even though you have switched over to your local broadband ISP. The only catch is that if you shut down your computer or log-off the broadcast you have to go through the whole procedure -- So if TSN does not work out or if someone wants to access the TSN broadcasts the above approach should work.

I think it is pathetic that in Canada we can not get a real TV broadcast of the America's Cup. Sham on Canada and sham on TSN! I will neve support TSN againb because I bought TSN especially from my sattalite provider just so I could watch the Sailing. if i doesn't happen soon I will never buy a TSN link again!

TSN in this case is pathetic. Look at their line up in the Pacific Timezone when the Sailing would be live. Riviting stuff..... Does anyone know how to capture the TSN broadband feed so as to play it back later?

I guess the decision for the broadcast rights in Canada must have been made in a euphoric moment by its official sponsor prior to their untimely demise ... or maybe that's why it's broadband instead of regular TV ...

"TSN Broadband will provide live coverage of each race from the Louis Vuitton Cup Final, which begins on June 1, followed by the America's Cup Match, beginning June 23. All races begin at 8:30 a.m. ET athttp://www.TSN.ca on a special customized TSN Broadband player.

BMW Canada is the presenting sponsor of the coverage..."

The good news is that if you have a flat panel TV hooked up as a monitor to your computer -- the quality of the broadcast is most satisfactory e.g. same as TV

Race 1 - June 1 (Live, TSN Broadband, 8:30 am ET)

June 1 9:35 AM ET -- and the live broadcast on TSN.ca Broadband (Canada) is a no show just like BMW/Oracle Racing -- a couple of losers

The coverage in Canada has been nothing to write home about but better than nothing.

I am sorry to say that after upgrading my internet bandwidth and buying cables to connect my PC to the LCD TV I had eliminated problems with viewing the images from TSN and having friends over to watch the races, that I was severely disappointed with preparation of the actual on demand files (NOT the live feed as I don't get a chance to watch them) to say the least.

    The most noticeable problems were:

Race 4, the whole start sequence and the first part of leg one was missing.

Race 5, by far the most exciting, while watching the race it changes from Part one to Part two at the most exciting part of the race when everyone is on the edge of their seats and part two starts of by showing Team New Zealand celebrating the win then carrying on from where part one left off from at the end of the third leg. Why was this? Made watching the rest of the race pointless.

I wonder if anyone checks the on demand files that are being loaded on the site and hope that the actual Americas cup coverage will be better prepared?

    Trevor,

Are you talking about the short 2-3min videos or the longer "highlights" (20min) videos?

Curious because the longer videos are several days behind real events and I (at least) don't see Races/Days 4 and 5 yet at all.

    Bjorn,

I am talking about the broadband feed provided by TSN in canada at www.TSN.ca it is sponsored by BMW so it is also accessable from www.BMW.ca I don't know if they have blocked overseas linking but it is worth a try.

Let me know how it works out for you. I have tried every capture program known to man to capture the stream but no luck or I would have posted it.

Not sure if others are having a similar problem but getting a stable connection for live viewing via TSN.ca broadband has proved a challenge -- their media player displays the URL addresshttp://broadband.tsn.ca/sailingtsn/?vid=8882 at the bottom but it still would not connect. Solution: I simply entered that URL into my browser and its worked perfectly the live broadcast both yesterday and now today.

Same for the repeats though the URL displayed is slightly different e.g. race#1 part one vid=8904 and part two vid=8905

Presumably the future repeats will continue in sequence.

re the above post - please note that when live sailing has concluded the URL (http://broadband.tsn.ca/sailingtsn/?vid=8882 ) redirects to the part two of the most recent repeat

Unable to edit above posts thus this addendum - repeats are in a type of sequence but it seems that they jump a couple of numbers e.g. race#2 part one has the URL that ends in vid=8908 and part two vid=8909

the live broadcast URL which is does not appear to change vid=8882 seems now to have gone dormant but I expect it will become active just prior to race time for race#3
