  This is my wife's profile.
  
  I tried linking to my Facebook profile and the interface told me that I should delete the duplicate account under my name, which (like a fool), I did.
  
  Beware of this thing, if it tells you to delete the duplicate profile you will loose everything, like I did.

  If you have an existing Sailing Networks account and want to link it your Facebook account, please make sure you are logged in to Sailing Networks before clicking the Facebook link button.
  
  It is not possible to have two accounts withe same email address so, if you create a 'new' account using the Facebook login and then add the email address that was used for a previous account, you will see a prompt to remove the duplicate account. If this option is selected then the more recently created account should be the one that is deleted.

  Nope, the older original profile with photos and links to people I had connected with got trashed. This did not work the way you say it should or the way one would expect it should. The prompt does not give an indication of which one it is going to delete. You try it and see what happens.
