Hello everyone. I've owned a hobie for four years and purchased a 1965 Lightning that's in excelent condition. I'm Located on the Norther Chesapeake. Once i get her in better condition this spring, it will be my first attempt at sailing with a jib. Anybody have any suggestions?

1.)The lightning likes to be sailed at about a 15 degree heel
2.)full board is when the board makes an equal lateral triangle at the top ot the trunk
3.) your jib should be at about the same trim as your main and should always have some shape to it (never pull it entirely flat)

That's all i can give you off the top of my head. just go out and play with her some and get a feel for her. gotta say i envie you though...i teach on lightnings during the summer and they're great boats and good boats to start with if you're planning on moving to the high performance boats like the 505's and 470's
