We're a group of around 15 who are over for the 1st weekend of Cowes week and I'm trying to find a way for us trying out Sailing, but on a budget – we're not in the market of the big hospitality companies operating. We're all novices, and I know Cowes week is probably the worst possible week to try & do this, but can anyone help? I heard last year Skandia put on a 'Try Sailing' initiative to let people try sailing. Alternatively, some other form of watersports around Cowes. Preferably looking to do something on afternoon of Saturday 2nd Aug. Can anyone else advise?

You are completely right to think that Cowes week is the worst possible time to try sailing on a budget. If you can be flexible on location i.e. country and also on when you want to go sailing I might have some alternatives which might work out more affordable than Cowes week. Let me know.

Thanks Christian. Will keep it in mind. Unfortunately, we're in Cowes week whatever happens that week. I guess it was in the vein hope of trying it out while we're in the thick of it! Cheers though.
