    Hi all,

I sailed when I was kid and would like to take sailing classes now that we relocated to the UK.

I live in London; can anyone kindly suggest a handy location where to get the competent crew (followed by the day skipper) certificate?

Would you have any suggestion on how to get up to speed in a fast way? (People say that racing is a good way of learning sailing fast. Would you share that?)

What are the typical fees involved?

    Thanks for your help,

    Salvatore Santoro

    Hi Salvatore

I can recommend AT Sailing Ltd. They run the full range of Royal Yachting Association courses in the Solent. That's 1 1/2 hour's by train out of London.

They have several boats and are always happy to help sailors as much as possible.

I will e mail Al Jones, the school principal, to e-mail you in the mean time.

You can always get in touch with Al at alan@atsailing.com

I have completed my courses up to and including Coastal Skipper with them, and the food is second to none.

A very professional company that keeps it's past clients upto date with their club news letter's with all kinds of sailing opportunities and alot of it is just getting out there and practicing. All the trips I've been on have been really good fun and really friendly, whilst at the same time building confidence and practicing skippering, parking etc etc Highly recommend them.

Please by all means mention my name when you speak/contact Al.

    Kind regards
    Tina

    Hi Salvatore
Brighton Marina (50 minutes from London) do Comp Crew training a couple of times a month, costing about £400 this time of year. They do them over a week or split over weekends.
They also do a training package for £599 which includes Comp Crew, VHF and Day Skipper Theory.
Check out the link below for more details.
    Good luck!
