PASSPORT YACHTS UNIQUELY WINS DOUBLE “BOAT-OF-THE-YEAR” 2012 AWARD
Middletown, R.I. — Cruising World magazine announced 9th Dec 2011 Passport Yacht/Winner of its 19th Annual Boat of the Year Awards. Boston MA — Sail magazine announced 17th November 2011. Passport Yacht/Winner of the Boat of the Year Award.
In a unique double win, the semi-custom, ultra-luxury cruising yacht-builders, Passport Yachts, has collected the highly-prestigious award of Boat-of-the-Year 2012 from both Sail and Cruising World magazines at the Annapolis Boat Show earlier this year for their new Passport Vista Centre Cockpit 545CC.
The first time ever, that one yacht has been bestowed with these two separate and coveted awards in the same year, “The equivalent of winning two ‘Oscars’ for the ‘best film of the year,” says Passport Yachts Europe’s Cowes-based MD, Stuart Gough.
The new Passport Vista Centre Cockpit 545CC was introduced in the Autumn 2010 and found immediate favour with buyers in the USA, Pacific basin and Europe. Passport has consistently set standards of finish and design excellence far in excess of the US and European marine industry norms, even at luxury levels espoused by brands such as Swan, Oyster, Discovery.
The judges and industry commentators said just recently:
“Passport Yachts have been creating strong, beautifully detailed cruising yachts for more than 30 years and each new model evolves slightly from the previous one. Looking at the new Passport Vista 545CC at the Annapolis Show made us wonder if the factory locks a man inside the boat each night and gives him breakfast only after he has come up with some small improvement. Whatever their management technique, the result is a sailboat that is built the way it should be. The fittings are sculptures of stainless steel that do their jobs elegantly and efficiently. Even the solid fixed stainless steel windshield is a beautiful structure, almost a work of art.”
In making their decisions, other features identified by all the judges were the thought and consideration applied to every aspect of the Vista 545CC from the flexible semi-custom layouts, to the beautifully engineered mechanical and electrical systems, all of which combine to make it capable of handling any ocean passage.
The judges also unanimously agreed that based upon Passport’s track record of continual construction of beautiful yachts over the past 30 years, they have now become accustomed to nothing less than premium quality and high end design details from the company.
Stuart Gough CEO of Passport Yachts Europe added: “We are absolutely delighted to receive these awards. The Passport Vista 545CC is a new model, and the first two 545CC’s have now been built and delivered, with hull number three already in the pipeline. This award is a testament to the pedigree of Passport Yachts and an endorsement to the highly skilled craftsmen who continue to create them.”
Passport Yachts Europe are based in Cowes, Isle of Wight and are the sole UK, European and Middle Eastern distributors of these award-winning, semi-custom yachts providing a complete wraparound service from initial design to commissioning and delivery.
Passport Yachts Europe have a Passport Vista 515CC available at Cowes for sea-trialling by appointment.
