Sir Robin Knox-Johnston presents Haven Academy Environment Award to TGB

Winner of The Haven Academy Award for The Environment is The Green Blue for an awareness raising initiative to inform boat owners about the risk of spreading non-native invasive species through sailing and boating. Project Manager Jane Swan who received the award from Sir Robin Knox-Johnston said:" Non-native invasive species are an increasing problem in UK coastal and inland waters with the potential to damage our native species and biodiversity. Our plan is to use the Haven Academy funding to promote the principles of DEFRA’s Check Clean Dry Campaign in clubs, training centres and marinas and so encourage boaters to do what they can to limit the accidental spread by boats and on equipment." Sir Robin said: “We must all do our bit in taking care of the boating environment. This is a really helpful initiative to help spread the word about the dangers and how each of us can help minimise the risk.”
