The race is on for property professionals to secure their place to compete in the 2007 RORC Fastnet race. At 608 miles, the biennial event is one of the world’s classic ocean races offering a new challenge open to an industry that already hosts the UK’s 2nd largest regatta, the LBCC.
The Sail 4 Cancer Property and Construction Trophy (P&CT) is new to the 2007 Fastnet and has been launched to raise money for the charity Sail 4 Cancer – which aims to raise significant funds for cancer treatment and research through the organisation of high profile sailing events. Sail 4 Cancer also provides sailing opportunities for cancer patients and their families, in the hope that their quality of life may be improved.
Emma Huddert from Sail 4 Cancer says “This is a unique opportunity for the construction industry not only to take on the infamous Fastnet Race, but also to show their support for growing charity Sail 4 Cancer. This is a step up from any corporate regatta and will attract the cream of the construction industry sailors”
The P&CT is open to company or project teams as well as individuals from the construction and property industry, and is an affordable way for companies to train and inspire their employees while raising money for a worthwhile cause. Sail 4 Cancer’s ultimate aim is to raise £500,000.
Britannia Corporate Events are once again showing their support for Sail 4 Cancer and helping organise the event. Entry prices vary according to whether participants enter as an individual, a team, company or private yacht owner. Entering as an individual costs £2,800 per head plus a commitment to raise £2,500 in sponsorship for Sail 4 Cancer. Anyone raising £5,500 for the charity will be offered a place free of charge. Prices include full training, sea survival courses, insurance, safety equipment and inclusion in all social events.
