Holmatro third in the first iShares cup in Munich.

In the extremely light conditions in the beautiful lake of Starnberg we unfortunately did not have a very good first day. The breeze was not more than 3 knots and we could not get our boat on speed. Team Basilica proved that it wasn’t only luck in the conditions and they showed 4 bullets in the result list.
Because of the Breitling Regatta in Medemblik (for the Olympic classes) Sebbe en Carolijn were not able to sail this event. The were replaced for Andreas Hagara and Gerd Habermüller.

The start of day two was postponed, because of a lack of wind, and we showed the audience that we can still sail these boat in hardly any wind.. but today wouldn’t be fair for racing. More wind was expected for the afternoon, and at the end of the day we did 2 decent races, a 2nd and a 3rd place.
The race committee was really keen for maximum racing and they rescheduled the racing in the attempt to fit in nine races in order to reach the maximum 15 races allowed for each iShares Cup event.
Team Holmatro had a good start with a first place in de first race, which counted double! The podium was all open again and we were really focused to get a spot on that podium.
Everything could happen in the nine races today, and we showed the audience that sailing in a couple of knots of breeze could really be exciting. Team Basilica and Team Volvo Ocean Race sailed some very consistent races and were too far away for us to beat in overall. We had good and exiting fight with Team Tommy Hilfiger for the third place. Both were pushing it hard, and we managed to beat them with only 1 point.
A third place in the first event, a result which we hope to improve the next regatta.
The same team is already looking forward for the next iShares Cup in Marseille! Hope to see you then.
