The next chapter in the sailing series of Team Holmatro will take place in Cowes, Isle of Wight in the UK. The Extreme 40 and the GS44 will both compete in two different events: iShares Cup and Skandia Cowes Week.
The iShares Cup event will be held alongside Skandia Cowes week, a week-long sailing festival that combines daily racing with an extensive social programme to include various live music acts, outdoor stores and lots of sailing banter. Eight boats are set to compete in this penultimate event. Team Holmatro will be sailing with female skipper Carolyn Brouwer on the Extreme 40 and Sander Speet on the GS44 in class IRC3. The GS44 has won the Cowes Week in 2003 and 2004 so has a lot to do to keep her reputation high.
iShares Cup
The Extreme 40s will compete out of the iShares Cup Race Village in Shepherds Wharf. In addition to the iShares Cup competiton (3-5 August) the Extreme 40s will put on several days of exhibition sailing from 7-9 August off The Green by the Royal Yacht Squadron.
Racing will take place on the Solent, the body of water between the Island and the mainland, which is traditionally one of the best and most competitive places to sail in the UK.
