The route and timing have been carefully selected so as to benefit from seasonal weather conditions by planning to be “in the right place at the right time”. Both the Pacific and the Indian Oceans will be crossed during the optimum period, at the height of the favourable trade wind season. Cruising ‘guru’ Jimmy Cornell has helped to plan the route, which calls at some of the most attractive sailing destinations in the world.

World ARC takes in a mixture of open ocean stages, independent cruising and planned meetings along the route. After crossing the Pacific, the Rally avoids the Red Sea and the Horn of Africa owing to political unrest and a heightened security situation in the region and instead rounds the Cape of Good Hope to call at Brazil before returning to the Caribbean.

Throughout World ARC, a multi-lingual WCC rally team will be in each port to look after the participants ashore, whilst a safety and communications net will operate on each ocean stage. Weather and routing advice is being provided, and the World ARC website will track yacht positions and display news, yacht logs and images to enable everyone to share in this great adventure.

Crew Needed ??

Hello.

My name is William Murray and I am interested in becoming your next crew member for the world ARC. I am currently looking for a boat right now for the upcoming ARC leaving this November 23 2008 and I would consider that a training run for the world ARC.

I am building sea miles for a USCG Captain's license. I am a nationally certified EMT-B and American Heart Association AED Heartsaver CPR course for health care providers, aka I can sail and if you get hurt, I can help you bc I have training as am EMT.

This automatically assuming I'm not a complete sh*thead, which I can hopefully not dissapoint you when I say to you that I am not. I give you my word on this. With this being said I have references to prove that I am not not dangerous, ask me I would be happy to provide you with references through Hank Schmidt at Offshore Sail Opportunities at www.sailopo.com .

My POINT, if I am an EMT on your boat, you are safer bc I can help you if you get hurt. I don't like thinking in terms of the "what if's" but I offer value to any crew I join and I can give you one big check off your worry list about people's safety on your boat. Plus I am not dangerous and I can prove it. I am fully set up gear wise and currently own my own personal EPIRB registered with NOAA with the SARSAT program.

I'm willing to make contact and discuss possible opportunities at my e-mail account murray.william.charles@gmail.com.

My cell number is (631) 751 - 1292. I am on Eastern Standard Time living currently in New York on Long Island in Suffolk County.

I look forward to meeting all of you. Sorry about the novel, I need to work on that. Thanks for your time.

Cheers,

Billy
