The Sunfast 37 class at Cowes Week 2008 looks set to be as competitive as ever, with the 60 matched racing yachts offering the only level playing field at Cowes Week.

Owned by Sunsail, the Sunfast 37 fleet is identically matched, providing each team with an equal chance of winning and making the racing incredibly close. It is this unpredictability and close fought competition that ensures many crews return year after year.

The 2008 Sunfast 37 crews include corporate giants such as the sponsors of Cowes Week, Skandia, who have taken eleven boats, as well as the Royal Bank of Scotland, AXA and Red Funnel. These corporate teams pit their skills against the many other groups of friends and colleagues. Sunsail also offer a limited number of places for individuals to join a skippered yacht, as part of their commitment to enabling non-sailors to join the fun.

New for 2008, each yacht in the Sunfast 37 fleet is decked out with shiny new mainsails, plus a mix of brightly coloured spinnakers provided by TUI Travel that will make the fleet hard to miss.

Class Captain, Chris Satchwell, comments: “For crews it’s a great opportunity to interact with their friends and colleagues, and gives everyone every one a chance to race in the world’s greatest regatta.”

Après Sailing and Prizes Galore

The Sunfast 37 fleet is as renowned for its “après sailing” as its on water racing, with lively socializing and a great atmosphere guaranteeing that sailors come back each year.

The party starts with a nightly prize-giving on the Sunsail balcony in the Cowes Yacht Haven. Trophies will be awarded daily to winners, plus the crews compete throughout the week for the overall prize of a Sunsail Clubs holiday per person on the winning boat. This fantastic prize includes flights, transfers, half board accommodation, plus use of all the inclusive Sunsail sailing and onshore activities.

New for this year, Sunsail are also bringing a customer favourite from their beachclubs in Greece, Turkey and Antigua over to Cowes – the traditional tea and cakes at the end of the day’s racing.
