Local Freshman Collegiate Sailors Shine

Outstanding performances by local sailors Sean Bouchard (Roger Williams University) and Peter Miller (Connecticut College) in the Freshman Invitational College Championships held November 8th & 9th at Connecticut College propelled both their schools to 1st and 2nd place finishes overall. This is the final Fall Series Regatta for Freshman collegiate sailors bringing together the top pre-qualified Universities from across the US.

Outstanding performances by local sailors Sean Bouchard (Roger Williams University) and Peter Miller (Connecticut College) in the Freshman Invitational College Championships held November 8th & 9th at Connecticut College propelled both their schools to 1st and 2nd place finishes overall. This is the final Fall Series Regatta for Freshman collegiate sailors bringing together the top pre-qualified Universities from across the US.
Bouchard placed 1st in the A-Division and Miller narrowly placed 2nd in a tie break with the 1st place finisher in the B-Division.
The boys were all hoping for a reunion of sorts but the Stanford University coach instead chose to “spread the wealth” and sent another freshman sailor in place of Oliver Riihilouma. Oliver had just been East in October and his strong performance in the B-Division at the Hoyt Regatta held at Brown University helped secure a spot in this final regatta for his school.
These three sailors are graduates of Bermuda’s highly successful internationally coached Optimist programme.
