Swan 45 Awards Presentation - YC Milano

The Yacht Club Milano provided the ideal setting for the Swan 45 Class year end awards presentation and announcement of the 2009 racing programme. Hosted by Class President Vittorio Codecasa, Swan 45 owners and guests enjoyed the opportunity to reflect on the past year’s regattas and look forward to the full calendar of events planned for 2009.

The Yacht Club Milano provided the ideal setting for the Swan 45 Class year end awards presentation and announcement of the 2009 racing programme. Hosted by Class President Vittorio Codecasa, Swan 45 owners and guests enjoyed the opportunity to reflect on the past year’s regattas and anticipate the full calendar of events planned for 2009.

President Codecasa took this opportunity to recognise the winners of the Swan 45 Worlds and the Swan 45 International Circuit – Hendrik Brandis and Christian Nagel, owners of Earlybird. He then presented Klaus Diederichs, co-owner of FEVER, with an award for their impressive second place finish in the Worlds, while third place went to Carlo Perrone’s Atlantica Racing.

Over the course of the racing season, it was Danilo and Anna Salsi’s Swan 45 DSK-Comifin that prevailed on the Mediterranean Circuit. With the lowest combined overall score after four events the Italian team, with Andrea Casale, Pietro D’Ali and Andrea Carrace onboard, were presented with prestigious silver trophy that had been won by Jeroboam Ca’Nova in 2007.

Looking ahead to 2009, for the first time in the history of the Swan 45 Class the racing programme will combine inshore and offshore regattas for the international fleet of Swan 45s. In 2009, the Mediterranean and International circuits are as follows:

The Swan 45 Italian Championships will take place from 19-23 May during Rolex Capri Sailing Week when Marco Salvi and his team aboard Vertigo will defend their title.

President Codecasa also took this opportunity to announce the Class’ partnership with Rolex as the official timekeeper of the Class and title sponsor of the next five editions of the Swan 45 World Championships.
