    The Club's Diamond Jubilee Weekend

The Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club was established in 1952 by the late ‘Tiny’ Mitchell as a club for local yachtsmen. It has evolved largely through the voluntary labours of it’s members to become a popular venue for both racing and cruising yachtsmen. It is the only club in Cowes that can provide marina berths and shoreside boat storage facilities to it’s members.

The club is situated on the west bank of the River Medina, approximately half a mile south of the harbour entrance. The approach to the club by sea is made by turning to starboard on passing the southernmost pontoon of West Cowes Marina, when the club pontoons will be seen directly ahead.

The Clubhouse is open from 0800 daily for use of toilet and shower facilities and the bar is open every evening and lunchtimes at weekends and Bank holidays. All the main facilities can be found nearby including: fuel and gas from Lallows yard next door, and within easy walking distance, rigging lofts, sailmakers, chandlers, marine engineers, electronic engineers, boat builders, restaurants, launderette and supermarket.

A Warm Welcome to New Members

The Cowes Corinthian Yacht Club welcomes new members, and will be very pleased to receive enquiries and applications from anyone who enjoys boating in any of its forms or, indeed, anyone who is just interested in being a member of a sociable and friendly club. Despite a membership drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds, there is no cliquishness or stuffiness about the Cowes Corinthian!

The Club’s relaxed atmosphere is complimented by its waterfront position, and the fact that it is the only Club in Cowes that has its own marina and dry storage facility for boats, the fees comparing favourably with those of marinas in Cowes. Whilst permanent berths are available for members, the Club also caters for visiting boat owners, who can stop in for free for up to three hours (so long as they buy a drink in the bar!) or who can pay very reasonable overnight berthing charges.

Membership fees are very reasonable, these being kept low by the Club’s “self help” philosophy, whereby members are happy to help around the site with launching and hauling out boats, maintaining the apron and pontoons and in organising social events and, of course, sailing and cruising events.

During the summer months, the Club’s marquee can be hired for wedding or birthday parties or other social functions for which bar extensions can be obtained. The Club also hosts a number of its own social functions throughout the year, not least its very popular Cowes Week Cocktail Party and other Cowes Week Events.

If you are interested in joining, you just need to complete and return an application form, although you will need to be proposed and seconded. If you do not know any existing Club members who can do this for you, please do not hesitate to ring the Secretary on 01983 296333 between 9.00 and 12.00 hours (Monday to Friday).

We look forward to hearing from you.
