Although designated a yacht club we very much cater for sailing dinghies and have some 250 dinghy spaces in our dinghy park in addition to 60 plus moorings afloat for larger craft including sailing cruisers and motor boats. Our dinghy fleets are very active and we have Fast & Slow Handicap and Solent Scow racing on most weekends, and some evenings when tide and light permit, from March to the end of the year.
Our clubhouse, widely used by our 1000 members, is a single story building, containing a dining area, bar and functions area, changing rooms and office and overlooks the harbour. The main Bembridge- St Helens road runs along the outer boundary of our dinghy park and Club house. Our extensive car park is directly opposite making it easy to launch boats from road trailers onto our two slipways.
We pride ourselves in having a friendly club with a relaxed atmosphere. Our bar staff and the Caterers are highly valued by the membership and throughout the year we stage a number of social functions ranging from the Summer Ball to the annual visit by Father Christmas.
Yachtsmen from other Sailing clubs visiting Bembridge Marina are welcome to enjoy our facilities provided they sign our visitor’s book. We are on the opposite side of the Harbour, about a ¼ mile inland from the Marina and you can reach us by using the Harbour water taxi, coming across in your tender or just walking around the Duver. I am sorry but we do not have facilities to berth your cruiser.
We are an accredited RYA Training Establishment and have a strong training and cadet section. The highlight of our year is our Sail Training Week at the end of July /beginning of August where we have some 80 young and not so young pupils participating in RYA sailing courses from Beginners to Performance Sailing. During the year our fleet of Optimists, Toppers, Picos and Wayfarers are in use on short courses for our members. By arrangement these can be loaned out to members with the appropriate experience.
