Facilities for members include: hot showers, toilets, changing areas, and a sandy beach with a gazebo. We provide catwheels and ample storage space; even some shade for those windless summer days. Your boat is secure at this club. Our fenced parking lot stores plenty of boats and trailers; the beach and parking lot gates are opened and locked each day by a gatekeeper. Most weekends there are sailors camping on the beach, rising early for a long day of sailing.

Looking out over Sandy Hook Bay in the distance is the Manhattan Skyline, the Verrazano Bridge and the Statue of Liberty. Access to the club’s beach by land is from Center Avenue. Within walking distance are restaurants, stores, bars, and even a movie theater.

Social activities include the typical Sunday keg of beer, barbecues, campouts on the island, parties on the beach with live music, champagne brunches; almost anything fun and exciting! We also have programs in the winter when it’s too cold to sail, courses designed to make you a better racer and lectures throughout the year by top local and national sailing personalities. Most of all, this club offers some of the best catamaran sailing on the East coast. Sandy Hook Bay is one of the finest natural sailing areas in the world, and on the rare calm day, excitement can be found simply by sailing “around the Hook” to the ocean. There’s always someone to sail with, or a group of boats cruising around the bay. Back at the beach, even the newest beginner can benefit from the company of experienced skippers gathered at dusk to swap sailing stories or trade information on boat speed and tactics. Our original club, Hobie Fleet 250, was formed in 1977 by a small group of Hobie sailors dedicated to the sport of catamaran sailing and racing. In 1978, the first boat was stored at the Bay Avenue location in Atlantic Highlands. Since then, our numbers have grown steadily, and we now store the largest Hobie fleet in the world. Though most of our members sail Hobie, we have open membership and in 1993 we formed Prindle Fleet 250 at our present site, and we look forward to seeing all brand name cats joining our club.

If racing is your interest, Fleet 250 has all you can handle. At least ten fleet races are held every year, with a Race committee that any yacht club would be proud of. Full Portsmouth and US Sailing class rules are in effect for all formal races, and for our fun events (Hull Flying, Ribbon Races, Treasure Hunts, Women’s Race, etc.), we have only two rules: Stay safe and have fun!
