Wetstuff is here to provide you with training, racing and charter opportunities from our Gosport base. We can help you set sail into your own personal sunset whether you are an experienced sailor, or looking to “learn the ropes” from scratch.

Whether you are a newcomer to the sport looking to learn the ropes, someone looking to increase their experience and skills, or looking to charter a boat we are here to help. Please click on the links above to find out more about what we can offer, or drop us a line by e-mailing info@wetstuff.org.uk.

In addition to Prime Evil, our Sigma 400, we have other boats available for charter. From the outset, we were joined by Trouble Maker, the Bavaria 34. Now under the ownership of one of our corporate clients, she remains popular and has a second life as a family sailing boat.

We have also been joined by Darwin Star, a Bavaria 37 . This comfortable 37 footer has slab reefing and a roller reefing genoa.

Who and what are we?

Wetstuff has been formed to provide quality boats for charter, racing and tuition. The two directors have a wealth of experience that they have brought together to help you get the most from your boating.

Our Sailing Director and Chief Instructor is John Wetton. He started sailing while in the Army in 1987 and since then has sailed boats ranging from Optimists right up to square-riggers and ocean-racers. Having sailed in the Baltic, the Med, the Canaries and Trans-Atlantic in addition to UK waters, his experiences together with a “safety first, fun second” approach to teaching will help to ensure you get as much as possible out of your time with us.

Much of his time afloat has involved training of one sort or another. Previous clients have ranged from blue-chip companies, such as Sony, to individuals looking to expand their sailing horizons, and participants in both the Challenge Business and Clipper Around the World Races.

His career has seen him working for outdoor education centres in Kent and Wales, Garmin – world leaders in GPS navigation systems, and for RYA training schools in the UK, Gibraltar and Canaries. More recently, he was the Chief Instructor of Haslar Sea School where he set up the sea school andspent four years or so developing the range of courses on offer along the way. While at Haslar he has gained a reputation for delivering high standards of tuition, while retaining the flexibility to help clients achieve their sailing goals.

John recently updated his Yachtmaster Instructor qualification. As a result of this, he has now been nominated as a potential Yachtmaster Examiner.

After setting up Wetstuff Ltd, with Helen Llewellyn, his years of sailing and IT experience are available direct to you!

Helen is co-Director, and Company Secretary. She has worked in the insurance industry (no groans please!) for the last 14 years. Starting off in general insurance dealing with broking and handling accounts, she is now an Account Executive with a leading UK insurance broker. Her work in the insurance industry has led to her working with clients both large and small. She prides herself in her ability to listen to a clients requests, and her willingness to go the “extra mile” to ensure their needs are met.

Helen also has a “buy to let” property which she has been managing for the last 3 years. Her property empire plans still exits – but some of it now floats.

She met John during her company’s sailing week several years ago, where her interest in sailing started. Since then she has sailed at every opportunity relishing the challenges of sailing – and of learning new skills! Helen is currently working towards her MCA Coastal Skipper qualification.

Other carefully selected staff will be used as appropriate to help us meet your needs.
