Wight Wizard, Contessa 32,
Originally owned by the MD of Cloverleaf Cars (Hampshire) and was initially named Cloverleaf and then changed to Dreamy Dragoon. She was acquired by the Isle of Wight Council in 1989, renamed Wight Wizard and operated by the Island Youth Water Activities Centre (IOW) until 2001. She gained a number of race successes in Cowes Week, Round the Island and ISC Nab Tower Race and was chartered by Warburg Dillon Read for the City Yacht Regatta for three years running winning twice and coming third the other time. In 2001 she was acquired by Christopher Casey and subject to an extensive refit by Jeremy Rogers the original builder. I purchased her in 2006 and did the first major (for me) cruise in delivering her from Plymouth to Northney, Chichester Harbour. Since then we have visited Normandy and joined in the Little Ship Club ‘Fast Cruise’ winter series (2006), cruised the Solent, trips to Calais, Holland and Guernsey (2007), moved to Chatham and visited Maldon, Calais and Holland (2008), again did Calais, then moved to Woolverstone and cruised Southwold, Lowestoft and Walton Backwaters (2009). Trips planned this year are for the 83rd Little Ship Club Calais Rally in May, cruise the East Coast and then an extended trip down the South Coast to Cornwall.
